Polling for the 2025 Local-Level Government (LLG) elections is underway in Huon Gulf District following a K150,000 funding boost from the Huon Gulf District Development Authority (HGDDA).
The funding, announced by HGDDA Chairman Hon. Jason Peter, is being distributed equally among the district’s three LLGs—Salamaua, Morobe, and Wampar—each receiving K50,000 to support election operations.
Wampar LLG Manager Kamis Koneri confirmed the allocation and said polling teams were deployed to their respective wards on Monday. “We conducted refresher training over the weekend and are now fully set to commence polling,” he said.
Polling in Wampar LLG began in the urban wards on Monday, with rural wards scheduled to vote on Thursday. Salamaua and Morobe LLGs are also expected to conduct their polling on Thursday.
The funding aims to ensure a smooth and efficient electoral process across the district.
