Morobe LLG Restores Power After 25 Years

For the first time in 25 years, the Morobe Local Level Government station now has reliable electricity. A K130,000 Cummins 50KVA generator funded by the District Development Authority has restored power to the LLG office, enabling staff to operate effectively without travelling to Lae for basic administrative tasks.

This upgrade was part of a five‑project rollout that included:

  • Two police institutional houses
  • A banana boat and OBM for Zaka Health Centre
  • 20 bicycles for ward councillors
  • K200,000 in disaster relief supplies

The district also launched a CCTV Surveillance & Video Conferencing Connectivity Initiative, digitally linking Morobe, Salamaua, and Wampar LLGs to the district administration to improve coordination, security, and disaster response.
