Teachers’ Housing Program Expands to Rural Schools

Two new teachers’ houses have been completed and officially opened at Lakala Lutheran Primary School (Laukanu Village) and Lababia Primary School (Salamaua LLG).

This brings the total number of completed teachers’ houses to 52, with 14 more schools scheduled to receive new houses before 2027.

The district also continued its Operation Rausim Morata initiative, distributing roofing materials to 2,730 families across all 65 wards. Families who complete their homes will receive 1,000L water tanks to improve access to safe drinking water.

These efforts support the district’s long‑term goal of strengthening rural education and improving living standards for teachers and families.
